It's been an absolutely fantastic week off!
Sunday:
Sunday consisted of work and lots of catching up with homework. Although my break from school was started, there wasn't a real break from the homework, projects, and papers! I was itching to get started with break and finally relax.
Monday:
Monday was an absolutely hectic day. I worked two out of my four jobs from 9-6:30. I was so exhausted working and all I wanted to do when I got home was sleep. However, we had bonding time with the improv team at Laser Quest! The last time I had been there was when I was seven for my friend Juliette's birthday. I will never forget that I asked for my code name to be Angel and they spelled it "Angle". I hope I was Acute Angle, at least! ;) I digress...
Laser Quest was a blast! Significant others were welcome to join so J came along for some fun. The eight of us were the only ones there and we were able to play two great games and head to dinner afterwards. All in all, it was an incredibly tiring, but productive day!
Tuesday:
I had been looking forward to Tuesday for months...it was yacht day! J and I had stayed at Dockside Boat & Bed once before with our friends Karly and Danielle, and had such a great time. You rent out an entire yacht for a night (or two, or three..) and you get to enjoy the beauty of Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach. We booked another night and after the past months being so hectic, I was so thrilled to have some down time. We arrived at our boat which was Sea Peepers this time and were surprised to see that it was moved to the end of the dock with a perfect, unobstructed view of the Queen Mary. The grand ship had its smoke stacks adorned with lights that looked like sparkling diamonds. It was gorgeous to say the least!
Sea Peepers was a cute ship; it had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a dining area on the inside. There was also an open patio on the outside that we made full use of at night. We grabbed blankets and sat outside listening to the boats and people watching! ;) I told J that it was the most relaxed I've felt in months! Danielle, Karly, and our friend Tyler brought over Thanksgiving food and we had a "Friendsgiving" feast. I am so grateful for the three of them and the joy they bring into J's and my life.
Wednesday:
We were able to secure a late check out which meant we had more time to enjoy the continental breakfast that was supplied by the yacht. It included a muffin, two bagels, crème cheese, two bananas, an apple, two yogurts, and orange juice. We headed back to my house and J had to leave for a funeral of his family friend.
Turkey day!!
Everyone who knows me knows that I love to cook and my favorite day to cook is, without a doubt, Thanksgiving. This year it was just me, J, Momma, brother D, and his girlfriend. I prepared turkey for myself, black forest ham for all the others, cheesy macaroni, stuffing, creamy mashed potatoes, creamed corn, and my absolute favorite Thanksgiving dish: green bean casserole.
D's girlfriend brought homemade pumpkin & chocolate chip muffins and pumpkin pie, both of which were delicious! We took a break after dinner and reconvened for dessert, apple cider, and a competitive game of Scategories, in which I came in third place. (Maybe I could have won if they had accepted Edgar Allen Poe as an "E" hero!)
Friday:
My best friend and other half, Maddy, came down for the holidays from San Jose. I've known Maddy since Junior High and we've been best friends since High School. I hadn't seen her since August, so it was so great to be able to spend time with my second family. Her parents (my "aunt" and "uncle"), Maddy, and I feasted on tasty leftovers from their feast the night before. I always love going to their house because they're some of the best cooks/bakers I know!
We watched the San Jose State v. Fresno State football game and SJ ended up winning...Go Spartans!
J and I went shopping around 2pm. I wasn't expecting to go shopping, but seeing as he was treating, I couldn't resist! I ended up with some fun new finds, so it was a successful day!
I hope everyone had a relaxing week off! Hang in there, Christmas is just around the corner!
