I can't begin to explain how much I love the holidays. Once Thanksgiving hits, it's time to whip out the Christmas lights and get to work on decorating the house. We've all been incredibly busy, so finding time was difficult.
My Dad and I have a strict tradition: we both go to Home Depot together and choose a tree together. It's been that way since as long as I can remember. It's a special "Daddy and me" bonding time and I look forward to it every year. However, due to Dad being out of town, it was up to me to choose a tree. I grabbed my trust sidekick and we were on our way to Home Depot!
J had never picked out a Christmas tree before, so it was a huge deal. We must have gone through about fifteen trees before we found the perfect one. Maybe I liked the lumberjack qualities he was exhibiting throwing the trees around in his plaid jacket and told him to keep going! Maybe! ;) It was such an exciting moment for us both and I knew Dad would be proud of the tree we chose.

J and I wanted to decorate a gingerbread house together, but ended up buying a gingerbread train. It was a cute little activity, and I'm sure we will do it again next year! He's certainly more artistic than I am, but I did supervise, so it's okay! ;)
My family does majority of the Christmas celebration on Christmas Eve. We all dressed up and went out for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. I must say one of the hardest hits I've been blown recently was when the waiter told me my absolute favorite dish for the past six years, the Navajo sandwich, was discontinued. I'm not sure how I'll survive without it, but the waiter (who may or may not have been amused by my request to bring the Navajo back) suggested I write to corporate. I'm on it, bud! BRING THE NAVAJO BACK! BRING THE NAVAJO BACK! Anyways....
Some of us headed to Church for the candlelight service. Once we got home, we took some pictures. I've always been a fan of opening presents on Christmas morning because of the excitement of waking up and running downstairs. But growing up, we used to get home from the candelight service around 12:15AM and that was a good enough reason to open gifts because technically it was, indeed, Christmas. This year we waited till Christmas...weeeee! Everyone was thrilled with their gifts and it was great to be able to spend quality time with my loved ones.
I am so thankful for my family and friends. I would be nowhere without them and, without any hesitation, I can easily say that their presence is the greatest present of all. I am such a lucky girl.
In peace, love, and goodwill,
Natty
